(Prev: Finished Neck)

With all the centerlines aligned and the heel to body joint double checked it’s time to glue the neck to the body. One of these pictures shows the only clamp necessary to glue the neck in position. The neck bolt holds the neck joint firmly in place and the clamp on the fret board extension anchors the assembly in place.

I’ll let the neck cure in position for a full 24 hours – this joint MUST be rock solid, I can’t “short cut” this step!

Most people believe this is the most difficult step in the process of instrument building, however, if the preliminary adjustments are made in a “dry” state the gluing up of the neck joint is easy and quick!

Next we’ll look at the nut installation.
