(Prev: Fret Nipping)

Whenever I sand a hard wood I keep the dust and store it for purposes such as these.

The fret slots are filled with a paste I make up from the dust and Tightbond Wood Glue. I simply fill the fret slot with this paste and allow it to dry out overnight. There tends to be some shrinkage, so I refill the slot the next day. That usually fills the area such that I can sand the surface to a smooth finish later that day. By the time I finish the edge of the fret board the paste disappears into the rest of the wood and the patch is very difficult to see.

In one of these pictures you’ll see the fret nipper tool… it’s nice to have the right tool for the job!
