This was an exciting day! The body was cured and all that was left to do was sand the edges of the top and bottom to match the sides!

This is when the raw materials really begin to look like a ukulele.

I’ve been asked if I “tap tune” the top … I do not. There’s a lot of conjecture about the process of tap tuning. One of my challenges with it is that you can’t tap tune the final product. Once the sides and back are in place there’s no room to extricate material to “adjust” the overall pitch. Every instrument is unique, no two will sound alike – even “tap tuned” instruments sound different from one another, in my experience.
